It’s Wellbeing Wednesday! & this week is all about physical wellbeing & the benefits of being physically active!

❔What is physical wellbeing?❔

Physical Wellbeing represents one dimension of the Four Pillars of Wellbeing – (Physical Wellbeing, Mental Wellbeing, Financial Wellbeing, & Social Wellbeing). It refers to the state of your physical body & how well it’s operating, & can be broken down into 3 elements – physical activity, healthy diet, & hygiene & disease prevention.

Today, we’re focusing on physical activity!

We all have different reasons for being active – but the types of activity we do usually fall into 3 areas (click for definitions):

For some of you, physical activity may be a common part of your daily routine already. For others, it may be something that you’re keen to explore further, you just need a little help/guidance to get started. Or - it may be that you’re reading this & feeling completely overwhelmed by the idea of being physically active – & that’s ok!

🧘Which physical activity is best for me?🏋️

Having a clear idea about what you want to achieve should help you to make a decision about which activity to choose. Ask yourself - which of these factors are most important to me?

  • Meeting new people & making friends
  • Learning a new skill
  • Having a more active lifestyle / improving your physical fitness
  • A mental health boost
  • Team sport or exercising on your own
  • Being in an outdoor or indoor space
  • Ease of access – e.g., if you have limited physical mobility, or can’t afford certain classes or equipment
  • Doing something you enjoy!
