It’s Wellbeing Wednesday! Seeing as we’ve just started a new holiday year, today’s post is all about holiday & encouraging you to consider your holiday days for 2023/2024 - why it’s important, the benefits of taking regular holiday, & how to maximise your rest breaks!
We generally associate annual leave with going on a holiday, taking time off to attend key events, or using it to ‘extend’ our time off around festive holidays. However, it’s really important to remember the key purpose of holiday – to provide time away from work & the routine of everyday life.

So, we’re all clear that taking holiday is important! But - what kind of rest breaks will actually help you to re-charge your emotional & physical batteries?
A German sociologist (Sabine Sonnentag) carried out a 20-year study into just that! They reviewed multiple professions, as well as types & lengths of rest periods. Their findings and conclusions over decades of research have been consistent: staff who are able to get away, switch off mentally, & devote their energies elsewhere, return to work more productive, with a refreshed positive mindset & focus on work, & are more resilient to work challenges.
