The expected behaviour outlined in the company handbook
Behaviour At Work Related & Social Events
During employment, staff may be offered the opportunity to participate in a number of work-related and social events. These include but are not limited to:
• Company Social Events – to express appreciation for our employees’ hard work and in the interests of promoting team spirit and strong working relationships.
• Oxford Global Events – staff may be required to work on-site events (in the UK and overseas) during employment, which may also involve periods of socialising between team members.
• Training Courses – external training courses may be offered to staff to assist with personal
development.
• Business Trips – meeting clients/sponsors to facilitate business opportunities.
Even though such work-related and social events will sometimes occur outside normal working hours and away from the workplace, the Company standard code of conduct will apply for the protection and comfort of all. Employees have a responsibility to take reasonable precautions for their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts and omissions. There is also an expectation of appropriate behaviour, where all employees can enjoy work-related and social events free from harassment and other abusive behaviour. Specifically, employees attending work-related events must adhere to the following:
1. Employees should consume alcohol only in moderation at work-related/social events.
2. It is strictly forbidden for any employee to use illegal drugs at any work-related/social event.
3. Employees should not engage in any illegal behaviour. Drinking and driving is not permitted.
4. Employees should not say or do anything at a work-related/social event that could offend,
intimidate, embarrass, or upset another person. Improper conduct or other unacceptable
behaviour will not be tolerated and is a serious disciplinary matter.
5. Employees must adhere to the Company’s other policies, such as those covering workplace
harassment and bullying.
6. Lewd language, fighting, aggressive or violent behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
7. Staff should not disclose confidential corporate information if they are expected to attend industry social events where competitors may be present.
8. Employees must not behave in any way at a work-related event that could reflect badly on the
Company. The Company will not tolerate any other behaviour that it deems could potentially bring its brand or name into disrepute.
9. Staff are required to report for work the day after a work-related event unless the employee has arranged in advance to take it as annual leave (or a lieu day has been allocated). Any unauthorised absence will be treated as a disciplinary matter.
Any breach of the above rules may lead to disciplinary action under the Company’s disciplinary procedure, up to, and including, dismissal.
The full policy can also be found in our company handbook.
